The Date
Choose a month or date that is meaningful to you!
It’s not that any ole date won’t or can’t work… but choosing a date that has meaning to you, like an anniversary of your first date, will make it all that more special to you.
If you don’t have a date that is close to your heart then think about what you and your mate enjoy doing the most.
Are you a couple that enjoys the winter months? Why not a romantic snowy slope-side wedding?
The Venue
The venue is arguably one of the most important part of your wedding (besides the dress, of course!).
First, think about what kind of experience you want your guests to have. Do you want a destination wedding weekend or just a single day or evening to spend with your guests.
From there, use your date to guide you…
The Food
Your venue may easily determine who the caterer is or if they have their own in-house catering. However, you can still make it personal even if you are choosing from their predetermined options:
Just make sure if you’re choosing eclectic foods that you have one plate that can be universally liked and make sure you consider any guest dietary restrictions and coordinate an option for them as well.
The Dress
This tends to be the number one thing most brides think about, so why is it half way down the page? The dress is really something that’s personal to you and only you. So be sure to choose a dress that makes you feel beautiful.
If you’re happy, you will radiant beauty and joy all day and night and it won’t be about the dress for anyone else, it will be all about you!
The Music
This is the easiest to agree (or not agree!) on. Just like with your venue, consider the experience you and your guests would enjoy.
Are you someone who lives for live music, do you prefer a DJ that can play the oldies and hits? Do you want to use your iPod and cut a spending corner here?

Regardless of what you choose, your wedding song is the most important part. If you and your mate do not have a song that has meaning to you, talk about music and songs you love, do a web search keywords that have meaning to you, listen to music and find commonalities.
Chances are, when you start listening and talking about music, you’ll hear something that creates a memory for you and becomes memorable and special to you!
The Dessert
For someone with a sweet tooth (like a pie extraordinaire for example!) The dessert IS the most important part of your wedding. For most people though it’s something sweet at the end of an enjoyable meal.
Think outside of the box, many people aren’t cake people and you do not have to have cake (read more about wedding dessert options here). Pick something you both love and then pick a flavor of that something you both love!

The Favors
This is an easy one to personalize! You can use your venue location, time of year and personal style to identify a theme or related things to include. For example, if you’re getting married at a brewery, why not a pint glass with your names and wedding date!
